Torika’s works ‘Post.Neo.De’, ‘My Air (Outside/In)’, ‘My Ocean (Inside/Out)’ and the series ‘Expendable Flesh’ are currently being exhibited in the Pacific Storms show at the Bundaberg Region Art Gallery. The show opened on Wednesday to a record crowd of 425 and was opened by Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Affairs, Mr Duncan Kerr. There were 30 pacific artists present at the opening. There was a huge gathering by the Pacific community in Bundaberg on Tuesday and Wednesday to make leis for guests to the opening. Bundaberg residents walked off the streets to join in the lei-making. Many attended the opening for dancing, kava ceremony and Pacific music and the contemporary art exhibition. This week and until the show ends on July 13, there will be educational visits and artists talks, curator’s talk and other lectures and discussions on the Pacific Islands Arts and Culture.
